Quicksilver strives to achieve excellence in environmental, health and safety initiatives. Quicksilver believes communicating responsibly with key stakeholders improves the safety of those living or working near facilities and will further protect the community and environment at large.
Quicksilver aims to ensure that its production and pipeline operations are built and maintained at a level that meets or exceeds all state and federal regulations. In order to maintain the integrity of Quicksilver pipelines, a number of operational procedures are implemented by trained personnel.
Most pipelines transporting energy resources like natural gas, crude oil and other hydrocarbon resources are usually made of steel. Corrosion-resistant waterproof coatings preserve the integrity of Quicksilver pipelines, while a process called cathodic protection deters any corrosion of the steel.
Quicksilver pipeline operations are controlled by a pipeline control center. Trained personnel monitor flow rates, pressures, valve positions and the operations of compressor stations. Controllers can shut down pipeline operations if a possible or known problem is detected.
Quicksilver also regularly inspects its rights-of-way using air, foot, and vehicle patrols. Our trained inspectors look for activities near our pipelines, such as construction and excavation and to ensure the security and integrity of our pipelines. We communicate regularly with emergency officials, local police, and fire departments and have detailed coordination plans in place in case of an emergency.
